Flickr is a website that do  image hosting and video hosting  as well as  web services

and deems itself as the ‘best online management and sharing application’ in the

whole wide world.

The founder of Flickr is   Stewart Butterfield and Caterina Fake. It started out as a

chatroom with the ability to exchange photos.

In 2005 Flickr.com was acquired byYahoo!. 

The website is very popular for users worldwide to share and embed personal

photographs, and effectively an online community.  It is also widely used by photo

researchers and by bloggers to host images that they embed in blogs and social

media.

You don’t need to register to get acces to the content on Flickr.  The website has

different options to choose from and that is one of the reasons for being so popular.

Even for mobile users, Flickr has official mobile apps for the Windows Phone

operating systems, Android, PlayStation Vita and  iOS .

There is the  “Free Flickr account”, you can upload up to 1 Terabyte worth of photos, with

unlimited monthly bandwidth.

Then there is the “Ad Free” flickr account, with a small amount payable per year.

The third and largest option is called “Doublr” with a bigger fee payable per

year. The option allows you to use 2 Terabytes of photo and video space,

upload and download in full original quality and unlimited monthly bandwidth.
