For that reason, the officials of the institutions are always guided by the will to open up the school through its teaching opportunities and research facilities. EPFL constantly creates partnerships with various establishments like engineering schools and universities not only to develop Switzerland but other emerging countries as well.
There are only 2 Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology and EPFL is one of them. Since 1969 it has been recognized as a national school in the country and it has grown on many dimensions as a technical engineering establishment to the point where it has become famous at the European level when it comes to science and technology.
The technical school has 3 core missions which are training, research and the transfer of technology so to achieve that goal it has associated itself with many other specialized research institutions in the country.
The school is located in Lausanne on the shores of Lake Geneva, one of the largest in Europe. The main campus takes up to 11,000 people comprising of researchers, staff and students.
